Bozeman City Commission meeting getting underway
Community Development Block Grant planning application moved off consent agenda and onto action item list so commission can discuss
Commissioner Mehl is concerned the grant would only benefit residential infill and is limited in what it can be used for
Motion to apply for grant passes. Now onto the sale of North Park
Brit Fontenot: "It’s been 11 years since the city purchased North Park... so this is an important night for the future of this property."
Erik Nelson, ThinkTank Design Group: "Our intention with this property is to move quickly."
Fontenot: City intends to apply proceeds of North Park sale to landfill post closure fund
Williams Plumbing is being viewed as an anchor tenant for North Park.
Deputy Mayor Taylor: "I think that the time has come for the city to move on from this particular piece of property."
Taylor: “I’m convinced for taxpayers this is the best course of action”
Mayor Krauss: Instead of putting money from sale in landfill post closure fund should put it in general fund.
Motion to sell North Park passes 5-0.
11 years ago the city paid $3 million for the property. Commissioners voted tonight to sell it for $1.5 million.
"That’s an expensive lesson for the people of the city of Bozeman and everyone concerned."
Commission now discussing a subdivision that's one of the largest it's seen in awhile, southeast of intersection with Flanders Mill Road and Baxter Lane and west of Ferguson Ave.
Subdivision proposal includes 292 single household residential lots with diverse
housing types and styles
Flanders Mill subdivision approved in 5-0 vote.
